Gaz is working as a Counter-Terrorist Specialist in the London Metropolitan Police, a post he took to avoid restrictive Rules of Engagement. When Al-Qatala terrorists launch a deadly attack at Piccadilly Circus, Gaz leaps into action alongside Captain John Price. Impressed by his tactical abilities, Price recruits him into the SAS and eventually brings him onto Task Force 141.
Alongside Price, Ghost, and Soap, Gaz becomes a core member of Task Force 141. Operating as the tactical and intel-coordination backbone of the squad, he helps track down the stolen Russian gas, disrupts global terrorist cells, and neutralizes terrorist leaders like The Wolf and The Butcher.

He was a test subject to a scientist named Dr. Danna Holt, who he wants to find for changing his life at an early age but he didn't want to lose his career. Killing someone for revenge is not really his thing anyway.He can change into a phoenix at any time which is really rare for him to do because he only turns into a phoenix when someone only gets hurt on the battlefield. Being a hybrid really changes his life in a good way because he could actually save people from dying.
